This policy explains what information North Carolina Land Ops LLC collects when you use nclandops.com, call or text us, or hire us; why we collect it; who sees it; and the choices you have. It is written in plain language on purpose. Please read them.
Who we are. North Carolina Land Ops LLC is a North Carolina limited liability company with its principal office in Broadway, Harnett County, North Carolina. North Carolina Land Ops and NC Land Ops are its trade names. In these terms, "we," "us" and "the company" mean North Carolina Land Ops LLC, and "you" means the person using the site or dealing with us.
What these terms do not replace. This policy works together with our Terms of Service. By using the site, sending us a form, calling or texting us, or hiring us, you agree to the practices described here.
1 The short version
We collect what we need to look at your property, talk with you about it, plan and perform the work, and keep the records the work requires.
We do not sell your information. We do not share your mobile number or your text-message consent with anyone for their marketing.
We look up public records about the property you ask about. That is how we assess land before we visit it.
Calls to and from our number are recorded and transcribed, and you hear a notice at the start of every recorded call.
Payment card details go to our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
We do not collect or keep information about your credit or your finances.
You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and we will, except for the records the law or a job requires us to keep.
2 Information you give us
Contact details. Your name, mobile number, email address, and how you found us, when you send a form, book an assessment, or call or text us.
About the property. The address or parcel; what you want done and when; your role (owner, buyer, builder, Realtor or investor); and, in our online assessment tool, the areas you mark on the parcel photo and your answers about the growth, the ground, the access, the trees and the stumps.
Site disclosure. Before work begins, what you know about septic systems, wells, buried lines, fencing, boundaries, features to keep, easements and permits, recorded on our site disclosure checklist, and, where the law requires one, the name and contact details of the lien agent for the project.
Documents and messages. The emails, texts, photographs and files you send us; your answers when we ask for feedback; and the estimates, plans, change orders, completion records and invoices we exchange with you.
Payment. The payment method you choose. Card details are entered with our payment processor, not with us; we receive confirmation of payment and the last digits of the card.
Text-message consent. The fact that you agreed to receive texts, when you agreed, and on which form or message.
What we do not collect. We do not ask about, collect or keep information about your credit, your income or your finances. We are not a lender and do not arrange financing, and no one at the company assesses or records your creditworthiness.
3 Public records we gather about the property
When you ask about a property, we retrieve public records to prepare: the county parcel map and record published through NC OneMap, which includes the boundary, the acreage, the parcel number, the owner of record and the owner's mailing address, deed references, the property's use and its assessed value; aerial photography published by the State; elevation and laser-survey data published by federal agencies; and, where you provide one, a report you generate yourself from a mapping app. We use these records to confirm that the person asking is entitled to ask about the property, to measure the land, and to prepare the range, the plan and the estimate. They are public records, they come from their sources and not from you, and they may not be from the current year. If you are not the owner of record, the owner's name and mailing address reach us from the public record, and we use them to confirm authority and prepare the plan.
4 Information collected automatically
The website. Our website platform records technical data when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you, and the date and time. It sets cookies that keep forms and bookings working and that tell us which page, listing or advertisement brought an inquiry.
Calls and texts. Our phone system logs the numbers, the time and the duration of calls and texts, and records the time every inquiry arrives.
The assessment tool. Your inputs, the areas you draw, the range the tool shows you, and the time it was shown are recorded with your inquiry.
5 Calls, texts and the automated assistant
Recorded calls. Calls to and from (910) 996-5263 are recorded and transcribed so that we have an accurate record of what was discussed about your property. You hear a notice at the start of every recorded call. If you would rather not be recorded, you can reach us at [email protected] instead.
The automated assistant. Some calls and messages are answered first by an automated assistant. It tells you it is automated. The audio and text of those conversations are processed by the speech and AI services inside our phone platform, which transcribe and summarize them, and the recording, transcript and summary are kept with your contact record. The assistant takes details, answers questions about how we work and sets up a call with a person; it does not price your job, accept work, or make any decision about you.
Text messages. Your mobile number and your consent are used to send the messages described in our Terms of Service, section 6: confirmations, scheduling and reminders, updates and questions during the work, documents and payment confirmations, a request for your feedback, and, only if you separately opt in, occasional seasonal information and offers. Reply STOP to any message to stop, and HELP for help. We do not share your mobile number, or the fact that you opted in to text messages, with any third party or affiliate for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from every kind of sharing described in this policy and are not shared with any third party, other than the platform and carriers that deliver the messages for us.
6 How we use information
We use the information above:
to respond to your inquiry and follow up with you by phone, text and email;
to assess the property and prepare a range, a plan and an estimate;
to schedule, perform, document and invoice the work, including photographs taken at assessment, during the job and at completion;
to keep the job record: the site disclosure, the change orders, the completion record, the sales-tax affidavit, and the production data our estimating method learns from, which describes the land and the machine and not you;
to send you reminders, updates, documents and payment confirmations;
to ask for your feedback and, at the end of a job, an honest review;
to send seasonal information and offers, only if you opted in to them, with a way to stop in every message;
to measure which pages, listings and advertisements bring inquiries, and to run and secure the website;
to meet our legal duties: tax records, utility-locate requests, lien notices and filings where a balance goes unpaid, and responses to lawful requests;
to protect the company's rights and the safety of people on a work site.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you. Our online assessment tool computes a non-binding range from your answers and public records, and a person follows up. Every decision about price, schedule and whether to take a job is made by a person.
7 Who sees your information
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We share it only as follows, and we give each party only what it needs.
Service providers. Companies that run our systems under contract and use your information only to provide their service to us: our customer-relationship, telephony and text-messaging platform; our payment processor; our database and computing provider; our email and domain provider; the speech and AI services inside our phone platform; and the public mapping and parcel services we query, which receive the location asked about and not your name.
Licensed trades named in your plan. When a plan includes work by another licensed contractor, that contractor receives what it needs to do its part of the work. Where it contracts with you directly, it receives your contact details for that purpose.
Our own people. Anyone working for the company on your job uses what they learn about you and your property only for the job.
Insurers and advisers. Our insurer and insurance broker, our accountant and our attorney, when a job, a claim or a dispute requires it.
Where the law requires. Government agencies or a court when the law requires it; a utility-locate request to NC 811, which carries the property location and a contact; the permit or erosion-control filings a job requires; and a claim of lien filed with the clerk of superior court where a balance goes unpaid, which is a public record.
A buyer of the business. If the company is sold or reorganized, your records go with the business under the rules in this policy.
8 How long we keep it
Inquiries that do not become jobs. Three years from our last contact with you, which is the long-cycle follow-up window, then deleted, or sooner if you ask.
Job records. The plan, estimate, site disclosure, photographs, completion record, invoices and the sales-tax affidavit are kept for the life of the job and for the period the tax and contract laws require afterward. Seven years after the job closes.
Call recordings and transcripts. Kept with the inquiry or the job record, on the same schedule as each.
Text-message consent records. For as long as we text you and for five years after the last message, so that we can show consent was given.
Production data. The figures our estimating method learns from, such as acres, hours and ground conditions, are kept indefinitely with your name and contact details removed.
9 Your choices
Texts. Reply STOP to any message. Stopping texts does not affect work you have contracted for; we reach you by phone or email instead.
Marketing email. Use the unsubscribe link in the message.
Calls. Tell us not to call and we will not.
Recording. Use email instead of the phone.
See, correct or delete what we hold. Email [email protected] from the address we have for you, or call (910) 996-5263, and tell us what you want. We confirm who you are by matching what you tell us against our records. Your request will be processed within days. We delete what we can and tell you what we must keep and why: a signed estimate, an affidavit, an invoice, a lien record. There is no charge, and we do not treat you differently for asking.
Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. The site's pages work without them; forms and bookings may not.
State privacy laws. Several states have passed consumer privacy laws that give their residents rights to access, correct, delete and opt out. Those laws apply to businesses far larger than this company, and North Carolina has not enacted one as of the date of this policy. We extend the choices above to everyone we deal with, wherever they live.
10 Children
Our site and our services are for adults. You must be 18 or older to send us a form, book an assessment or contract for work. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and never from a child under 13. If we learn that we have, we delete it. Tell us at [email protected].
11 Security
Access to our systems is limited to the company's own people and the service providers named above. Payment card data never touches our systems. Records live in our providers' systems under their security measures. No method of sending or storing information is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that yours will never be accessed without authorization. If a security breach puts your personal information at risk, we notify you without unreasonable delay as North Carolina's Identity Theft Protection Act requires, and we notify the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division as that law requires (G.S. 75-65).
12 Where your information is kept
In the United States, with the service providers named in section 7. We serve properties in North Carolina only. If you are outside the United States, please do not send us personal information through the site.
13 Photographs of your property
We photograph our work at assessment, during the job and at completion, for the job record. We publish a photograph of a client's property only with the client's agreement, and we leave out house numbers, vehicles and faces unless you agree otherwise.
14 Other websites and platforms
Our site links to other websites, and we keep a presence on Google and on social media platforms. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.
15 People who apply to work with us, and the businesses we buy from
If you apply for a position with us, we use what you send us to consider your application and keep it for that purpose. For information regarding available positions, visit the Careers link in the footer of this website.
From the businesses we buy from and work with, we keep business contact details and use them to manage the relationship.
16 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top is the date the current version took effect, and changes apply from the date they are posted. If we change how we use your text-message consent in a material way, we tell you by text first.
